Once you have harvested and dried your mushrooms, you will need to store them properly. A small amount of mushrooms can go a long way in your pantry and if stored properly they can have an extended life.
 
Whether you are using a Mason Jar or a mylar bag, be sure to put in a Silica Gel Desiccant packet to absorb any moisture and prevent mould. These packets are a handy 2 gram size.
Silica Gel Desiccant is a kind of odourless, tasteless, non-toxic, high-activity absorption material with strong adsorption
capacity. It is an essential for every grower to keep your dried mushrooms in tip-top condition.

--BEST PRACTICES--
For a well-sealed item - jar, quality Ziploc or mylar bag, a rule of thumb is that 10 grams of silica gel is needed for every 30cm cube of the volume of the package. This converts to 340 grams per cubic meter.
 
--STORAGE--
You will receive your gel packs in a vacuum-sealed bag. Once you open that, please keep your packs in an air-tight container. When exposed to the atmosphere, your packs begin absorbing moisture right away - so don't leave them sitting out in the open.
